An Innovative Social Partnership

Since 2018, the Ateliers Amasco association has been expanding its project to foster the joy of learning through play during school holidays. The association started from the alarming observation that school holidays significantly amplify socio-educational inequalities. To address this, the association offers 5-day workshops aimed at children aged 6 to 11. Through these workshops, children continue their learning even during the holidays, develop new skills, and ensure they return to school in the best possible conditions.

These weeks are organized in collaboration with local municipalities, with nearly 178 weeks of workshops planned for 2024 across 3 regions of France.

The Salvation Army Foundation has historically been involved in assisting and housing people in extreme poverty, both in France and globally. In France, it is particularly active in the Lyon metropolitan area, especially at the “Grandes Voisines” site, an innovative social and solidarity third-place, where nearly 800 people are housed.

The two associations naturally came together around the need to find activities for the children housed at the site, who do not go on vacation and are at high risk of school dropout during the summer.
